Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal : ウィキペディア英語版 | Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal
The Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal is an eparchy (Eastern Catolic diocese) of the Maronite Church for Canada. It is exempt, i.e. directly subject to the Holy See in Rome, not part of any ecclesiastical province. Its cathedral episcopal see is the Cathédrale Saint-Maron, in Montréal. The headquarters are located on Grenet Street, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The current eparch (bishop) is Paul Marwan Tabet. == History == It was established by the Venerable Pope John Paul II on August 27, 1982. Most of the faithful Maronites of the eparchy arrived in Canada mainly from Lebanon in major immigration periods between 1860 and 1914, 1930 and 1960, 1970 to 1980 and 1989 to 1991. The Maronites brought a rich culture to their new homeland and retained their religious affiliation in a traditionally Christian society which had become largely agnostic.
